Our Mission is to Provide Professional Christian Counseling in the Upstate New York region.
About The DoorThe Door Counseling Center was established in 1996 in Utica, New York. Our goal is to provide counseling from a Christian perspective for a wide range of problems. Fees are held to a minimum in order to make our services available to all, and we employ a sliding scale of fees for those with limited income. Many private insurances will reimburse clients for their counseling sessions at The Door. Elizabeth Szlek, the Director of The Door, is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, as well as a member of the American Counseling Association. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor and holds Masters degrees from Yale University and Liberty University, as well as a Bachelor's degree from Syracuse University. Ms. Szlek writes columns for various publications, and is at work on a book which encompasses her view of Christian counseling.
